IT Systems

As a BYOD school we have a number of IT systems that make your job as a teacher easier. You are welcome to bring your own device and log on to the TBC Guest wifi network (password available at reception) or you will be able to 'check out' a reliever laptop that is already configured to work in the TBC environment. Please note that you will not be able to 'cast' to a TV in a classroom with a reliever laptop. You can use your own device if the TV has a cable.

You will have the use of an individual tbc.school.nz account for the duration of your section. This is set up by the Principal's PA and should be active once you start your section:

User name: f.lastname@tbc.school.nz

Password: will be provided by IT or COR

1) Sign in to Google Chrome

This is the preferred browser for TBC. Check out how to sign in to Chrome including using the TBC Bookmarks folder for easier access to TBC services.

2) Access KAMAR

There are two ways to access KAMAR, the system for attendance and assessment here at TBC. One is via the Filemaker app (which most teachers have set up and is also set up on reliever laptops). The second is the web site access which you will be able to use on your own device.

To log in to KAMAR you will have a 3 letter teacher code and use the same password. Your TBC account will only allow you to view student info.

3) Share resources with Google Drive

Your mentor teacher may share class resources with on Google Drive. You can also access a heap of staff manuals and other information via the Staff Docs drive.

4) Post lessons on Google Classroom

Your mentor teacher can add you as a teacher to the class's Google Classroom for you to post lessons and resources. Check out this page for more resources on Google Classroom.

5) Use the classroom projector or TV

Often you will want to show resources to the class by using the projector or TV in the classroom. If there is a cable, you can plug into your own device directly. If you would like to 'cast' to a classroom TV you will need to use either the Mentor teachers device or get a reliever laptop from the IT office (upstairs next to CR1)

6) Printing

Once signed in to the Tauranga Boys' College Wifi network, you will be able to print on the school's printers. You will need to print from the Chrome browser and choose the 'Follow Me' printer. You will nee to set up 'Mobility Print' at this website.

Once at the printer, use the 4 digit pin that was emailed to your tbc.school.nz email account from papercut@tbc.school.nz and select 'Print'.
